Jill Himschoot, Germination Analyst
Hello! I grew up in northern Alberta surrounded by people who worked in the seed industry, courtesy of my dad. I never thought I would end up doing something in agriculture until I started working as a lab tech up in the Peace Country during 2005. I soon realized it was something I was interested in pursuing as a career. After working a busy season up north, I decided to move to Edmonton in late 2006, when 20/20 Seed Labs graciously took me in. The following year I wrote my exam for my germination accreditation, and now I’ve decided to pursue training in purity so that I can become a fully accredited seed analyst.
In 2009, I decided to go abroad during the summer months and go backpacking in New Zealand. It was a great experience, meeting new people and traveling to a new town every day. I’ve always loved the idea of travel and learning about new cultures. I plan on doing a lot more travel in the next coming years as well.
I’ve recently been the germination analyst taking most of the phone call inquiries this season, so if there are any questions pertaining to germination, feel free to give me a call and I will do my best to answer your questions about seed quality and your results.
